PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To browse an optional attachment without installing various kinds of software to browse and display attachments of various file formats of electronic mails in a mail browsing machine. SOLUTION: A mail server 183 of a client service provider 18 receives the electronic mail to a registered user and when the attachment exists in the electronic mail, confirms a file format of the attachment. When the file format of the attachment is one document of a first predetermined file format group, the document is converted into one file of a second predetermined file format group except the first file format group. The attachment attached to the electronic mail is further replaced with the file after conversion.
