A method of manufacturing a composite wheel comprises: (a) building up at least two separate preforms; (b) combining the separate preforms; (c) compressing into one whole; and (d) impregnating the compressed whole with a synthetic resin. The preforms are built up by compressing mats of oriented fibers (5) into each of the respective preform, to form hub (2, 3) and rim (1) portions of the wheel, respectively. |
