PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a remote monitoring system which advantageous in terms of cost, in the keeping place of photographed images and the trouble of collection and which is convenient for taking out a necessary recording part. SOLUTION: The remote monitoring system is provided with camera 1 for photographing the inner part of a store, a detecting sensor 3 which is fitted to the camera and detects definite persons, a recording means recording a video and sound by a server 4, at the same time as the detection of the detecting sensor, while the detecting sensor detects people and a compressing means compressing the recorded video and sound. The compressed video and sound are transmitted to a designated place through an information communication line 6, and the recorded video and sound are stored by filing and numbering. Only the necessary recording part can be viewed through numbering and labor hours are not required so much, wastage is little, communication cost can be reduced without the need for always performing recording, data quantity becomes reduced and necessary parts are taken out easily.
