PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a device and a method which appropriately eject or back up a file of a document, etc., in a file managing device for an electronic library assuring the originality of the document. SOLUTION: In the electronic library, when an electronic document file is ejected or backed up, a file for storing ejection processing history or backup processing history is generated, and ejection processing and backup processing are managed. Thus, it is possible to easily manage which medium the original document is ejected to and where the backup of the original document exists. When the uniqueness of the original document shown by the ejection history and backup history is protected, it is possible to avoid the situation that a plurality of original documents are generated in a plurality of electronic library recording media after all.
