The collector is made from a sheet (1) of stampable material forming a body with a base (2), sidewalls (3) with folding lines (7) to enable folding, a back wall (4) and an extension thereof serving as a lid (5), which is hinged thereto relative to said back wall by means of a folding line (6) so that a flap (10) stamped on the back wall (4) makes it possible to operate the collector and the lid (5) by positioning said flap (10) on two concave segments (13) with the purpose of collecting the excrement from the ground and fully closing said lid (5). The free, serrated edge (15) of the lid contacts the base (2) in the proximity of the front edge (18) thereof. The lid (5) is locked in closing position by the insertion of the tabs (16) located on the ends of the serrated edge (15) into respective slots (17) in the base (2). The inner face of the lid (5) has reinforcement strips (19) and serrated extensions (20) stiffening the assembly and defining springs that move the lid (5) to the opening position.
