Thiazole-5-sulfonamide derivatives are new. The thiazole-5-sulfonamide derivatives are compounds of formula (I) and their salts: R<1> = H; halo; alkyl; alkoxy; aminoalkyl; or haloalkyl; R<2> and R<3> = H; cycloalkyl; biphenylaminocarbonyl; alkyl optionally substituted with 11 groups; -P(O)(OR<2-2>)(OR<2-3>); -C(O)-CH(NH2)-R<2-4>; or -CH(R<2-5>)-O-CO-R<2-6>; R<2-1>-R<2-3> = H or alkyl; R<2-4> = side chain of natural alpha -amino acid; R<2-5> = alkyl; R<2-6> = H; alkyl; or -CH(NH2)-R<2-7>; R<2-7> = side chain of natural alpha -amino acid; or NR<2>R<3> forms a 5 or 6 membered saturated heterocycle optionally containing O; R<6> = phenyl optionally substituted with 20 groups; R<7> and R<8> = H; alkyl; halo; or NH2; A = -CR<4>'R<5>'-C(O)-CR<4>R<5>-; -CR<4>'R<5>'-C(O)-NR<9>-; -NR<9>'-C(O)-CR<4>R<5>-; or -NR<9>'-C(O)-NR<9>-; R<4> and R<4>' = H; acyl; alkenyl; cycloalkyl; alkoxycarbonyl; or alkyl optionally substituted with 8 groups; R<9> and R<9>' = H; acyl; alkenyl; cycloalkyl; alkyl optionally substituted with 11 groups; or alkyl substituted with 5 or 6 membered, optionally N-bonded, optionally benz-fused heteroaryl containing S, N and/or O, N-(R<9-5>)-pyrrolidin-2-yl, tetrahydrofuran-2-yl, 1,4-benzodioxan-2-yl, 2-oxo-pyrrolidin-1-yl or -O-C(O)-NR<9-6>R<9-7>; R<9-5> = H or alkyl; R<9-6> and R<9-7> = H; or alkyl or aryl (each optionally substituted with OH, alkoxy and/or halo).
