PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a paper discharge device for a printing machine for the processing of paper sheets, capable of changing between a pile forming mode and a discharge mode by adjusting the position of a changing member for locating the changing members at an extreme position independently of its adjustable basic position. SOLUTION: The changing member 25 can be operated by a link transmission gear 31 and the link transmission gear 31 is movable between predetermined extreme attitude corresponding to the extreme position of the changing member 25 in the discharge mode and adjustable initial attitude corresponding to one of the adjustable basic positions of the changing member 25 in the pile forming mode. In this way, the changing member 25 in the discharge mode can be located at the extreme position which can be predetermined independently from the adjustable basic positions at all times.
