PURPOSE: A process for preparing D or L-cycloserine or precursors thereof using an enzymes is provided, thereby preparing high purity D or L-cycloserine or precursors thereof in higher yield. CONSTITUTION: A process for preparing N-carbamoyl-D or L-cycloserine comprises the steps of: treating D, L-5-hydroxymethyl hydantoion with at least one D or L-hydantoinase isolated from the group consisting of Bacillus, Pseudomonas, Agrobacterium, Arthrobacter and Thermus to prepare N-carbamoyl-D or L-serine; and cyclization of N-carbamoyl-D or L-serine. A process for preparing D-cycloserine comprises treating N-carbamoyl-D-cycloserine with at least one D-carbamoylase isolated from the group consisting of Pseudomonas, Agrobacterium, Bacillus, Comanonas and Blastobacter. The process for preparing L-cycloserine comprises treating N-carbamoyl-L-cycloserine with at least one L-carbamoylase isolated from the group consisting of Pseudomonas, Agrobacterium, Bacillus, Comanonas and Blastobacter.
