PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a water cleaner capable of sufficiently developing the filtering and cleaning action of a filter bed over a long time while passing water through the filter bed in a small flow rate to always store cleaned water, simply supplying water required in cleaning and not having fear such that water overflows to submerge the periphery. SOLUTION: The water cleaner is equipped with a first container 1 housing unclean water, the second container arranged under the first container 1 through a partition plate 2 and the third container 4 arranged under the second container 3 to house cleaned water. A filter cartridge 5 for filtering water is housed in the second container 3 and a flowing water control valve mechanism, which allows water to flow down to the filter cartridge 5 from the first container 1 and performs not only the cutting-off of the flow down of water but also the control of the flow rate of water, is provided to the partition plate 2. This flowing water control valve mechanism 6 is opened, when the opening 7 provided to the top part of the first container 1 is closed by a lid 8, to guide water to the filter cartridge 5 from the first container 1 in a set predetermined flow rate and closed, when the opening 7 is opened, to cut off water.
