PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To develop an ecconomical brick excellent in corrosion resistance against slag at high temperatures, and heat cracking by temperature variation without generating wear embrittlement by oxidation reduction reaction of brick itself. SOLUTION: The problem is solved by a refractory material for a D.C. electric furnace bottom or for a ladle sidewall made of 5-25 wt.% carbon containing baked or unbaked magnesia-spinel-C brick or a spinel-magnesia-C brick where >=90 wt.% of aggregate except carbon is magnesia and Al2O3.MgO base spinel. |
