A roller for applying at least one flowable substance on dough (3). When the dough is brought into contact with the outer covering (11) of the roller (6), it passes in front of said roller. The roller (6) has at least one channel (12) for the supply of the medium. The channel (12) passes through at least a major part of the axial length of the roller (6). The outer covering of the roller (6) encasing said channel (12) is made of a sintered body which consists of food-compatible, dough-repellent substance especially polyamide. This makes it possible to apply the medium on the dough in a homogeneous and orderly manner.
