PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an electrochemical light-emitting element and manufacturing method thereof, the light-emitting element being a high performance electrochemical light-emitting element permitting a low driving voltage, having a large light-emitting power, being superior in stability and reliability, and further allowing an easy manufacturing process, thereby enabling a low cost and a large area of use. SOLUTION: In the electrochemical light-emitting element employing a transition metal complex (ruthenium complex, in particular) for its light-emitting layer, a high-polymer solid electrolyte is utilized that comprises a high-polymer compound obtained by hardening a compound having polymerizing property, the compound containing a specific functional group with polymerizing property in the form of an ion conductive substance, as well as an electrolyte salt.
