PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical communication device, an optical signal transmitting medium, an optical signal outputting terminal, and an optical signal reproducing device wherein power consumption and deterioration of a light emitting element are reduced in comparison with those of conventional ones. SOLUTION: After reflecting the light emitted from a light emitting element 16b of an optical signal outputting terminal 16 by a reflection portion 17c of an optical cable 17 connected with the optical signal outputting terminal 16, a light receiving element 16c receives this reflection light. By the light receiving state of the light receiving element 16c, the connection of the optical cable 17 with the optical signal outputting terminal 16 is sensed. When the optical cable 17 is connected with the optical signal outputting terminal 16, the optical signals for representing read-out data are outputted from the optical signal outputting terminal 16, and when the optical cable 17 is not connected with the optical signal outputting terminal 16, optical pulse signals are outputted from the optical signal outputting terminal 16 with a predetermined time interval. |
