PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a shock absorbing device and shock absorbing member, in which the shock absorbing capacity with respective to a unit whose performance is affected by vibration or a shock is enhanced more than that of the conventional one in not only the load-applied direction but also in the other directions and an electronic appliance including them, and to make the shock or vibration possible to be rapidly absorbed, particularly when the unit is shocked or vibrated by the motion of the internal movable part. SOLUTION: Shock absorbing members 4a and 4b are made of an elastic body the shape of which is substantially uniformly columnar along the longitudinal direction and in which the size in the longitudinal direction is made larger than that in the cross section. The members 4a and 4b are disposed so that a quadrilateral is formed by arranging the longitudinal sides in parallel to each other. A hard disk driving unit 1 is elastically supported on the disposed members 4a and 4b.
