The economiser has an oxygen distributor (C) with a distribution port (122) and a detection port (140) which detects inhalation by the patient, the two ports being capable of simultaneous connection to the patient via a double cannula. It also has an oxygen distribution chamber (114) in communication with the distribution port, a dosing intake (116) for the flow of oxygen to the distribution chamber, controlled by a distribution membrane (108), and a feed pressure chamber (106).
