PURPOSE: To prevent decrease in the reflectance, without complicating the manufacturing process. CONSTITUTION: The liquid crystal display is equipped with an electrode substrate G1 having a plurality of pixel electrodes 2, an electrode substrate G2 having a counter electrode 12 facing the plurality of pixel electrodes 2, and a liquid crystal layer LQ held between the electrode substrates G1, G2 to modulate the reflected light and transmitted light from pixels defined by the pixel electrodes 2. In particular, each pixel electrode 2 has a conductive light-reflecting film 2R or making the incident light reflected and at least one opening 2H, formed as a defective part of the conductive light-reflecting film 2R, so as to make the incident light transmit.
