Apparatus consists of at least one overflow channel (2) for the liquid to be filtered (feed liquid) and at least one filtrate channel (1) running parallel to the overflow channel to collect the filtrate. Each overflow channel is separated from the filtrate channel by a flexible filtering device (5). The outlets for the concentrate (4) on the overflow channel and the outlets for the filtrate (6) on the filtrate channel are adjacent to each other. Each filtrate channel has at least one barrier (7) arranged at a distance from the filtrate outlet. The barrier is impermeable to the filtrate liquid and thus stops the flow of filtrate. Preferred Features: The barrier lies across the flow direction of the filtrate and extends over the whole width of the filtrate channel. The barrier is made from a fabric. The filtering device is a filter membrane. The apparatus is in the form of a filter cassette.
