<p>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a pretentioner capable of applying sufficient pretension to a belt even though it is small. SOLUTION: The pretensioner 1 is equipped with three cylinder chambers 15A-15C. A pistons 21A-21C is slidably disposed in each cylinder chamber 15A-15B. Explosive 23A-23C is filled up in the rear end parts of these pistons 21A-21C. If each piston 21A-21C is propelled, a strip 28 is extended, and is withdrawn from a drive wheel 14. If the strip 28 is withdrawn, the drive wheel 14 rotates and a take-up shaft 10 is rotated by being engaged with a clutch 13, and pretension is given to the seat belt. In the case of this triple cylinder mechanism, a quantity of the strip 28 withdrawn amounts to six times of a cylinder stroke between the drive wheel 14 and the fixed end 28a of the strip 28.</p> |
