PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce uncomfortable feeling give to a driver when decelerating an own vehicle by actuating a brake, in a running control device for controlling a running state based on a relative positional relationship between the own vehicle and a leading vehicle. SOLUTION: When a target deceleration during operating of a brake is determined based on a relative speed and a distance between the own vehicle and the leading vehicle, the target deceleration is successively changed accompanied with a change in the relative speed and the distance between the two vehicles, whereby sometimes the driver feels uncomfortable. At starting of the operation of the brake, the target deceleration for brake operation is determined (S30) and the determined target deceleration is made constant during the brake operation (S31), the number of times in which the deceleration is changed is decreased. Accordingly, the uncomfortable feeling given to the driver is reduced.
