PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a pulse sound judging method by which the normality or abnormality of a rotating body can be easily judged with precision by calculating the number of pulse sounds of waveform data collected in a unit time even if a big sound abruptly enters the pulse sound caused by the rotation axis of the rotating body such as an engine, motor, mission, or plant. SOLUTION: In the pulse sound judging method, the normality or abnormality of the rotating body is judged using a pulse sound caused by the rotation axis of the rotating body. Here, the mean squared value of an amplitude of a waveform data collected in a unit time is calculated, and then its root is acquired which is constant-multiplied to provide an amplitude threshold which is compared with the amplitude of an original waveform data. If the number of amplitudes of waveform data exceeding the amplitude threshold exceeds a set number of thresholds, the waveform data are judged to contain a periodic pulse sound.
