<p>A raw material for plastics which is a liquid obtained by heating at least one monosaccharide selected from the group consisting of hexoses, ketohexoses, and pentoses together with at least one acid selected from the group consisting of oxalic acid, citric acid, malonic acid, succinic acid, and phosphoric acid and with a polyhydric alcohol. This liquid becomes a plastic upon crosslinking with a polyvalent isocyanate compound. Thus, a colorless or white, biodegradable raw material for plastics which is readily usable in various applications can be provided from easily handleable starting materials. The liquid is useful as a modifier for various polymeric substances.</p> |
