PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide sod obtained by a management type (factory type) production which does not taking out surface soil of an agricultural field or grass field where the sod is produced, uses a light artificial material (non-agricultural field material) such as carbonized matter of paper sludge (PS) and can produce the sod even on a man-made ground without needing the agricultural field, and to provide a raising base, that is, sod on which seeds of lawn are laid. SOLUTION: The sod and the raising base, that is, sod on which seeds of lawn are laid have the following structure: the soil of the sod contains a sheet- shaped net; and the net entangles roots of lawn and prevents the soil from falling off during transferring.
