PURPOSE: An optical fiber for a WDM(Wavelength Division Multiplexing) optical transmitter apparatus using a narrow optical channel is provided, which maximizes a transmission capability per optical fiber, and has an appropriate dispersion as suppressing a four wave mixing and minimizing a cost for dispersion compensation. CONSTITUTION: According to the optical fiber for a WDM optical transmitter apparatus having a channel interval of 50GHz, a dispersion is 7-10 ps/nm-km at a wavelength of 1550nm, and a zero dispersion is below 1450 nm, and a cut-off wavelength is below 1250 nm. And the optical fiber comprises a core having a diameter of d1 and a refractive index of n1 and a cladding made by a silica glass surrounding the core and having a refractive index nc1 smaller than n1. The relative refractive index difference between the core and the cladding is 0.43-0.5%, and the diameter d1 of the core is 5.5-6.0 micrometer.
