CARRIAGE LATCHING MECHANISM FOR MAGNETIC HEAD, AND MAGNETIC DISK DEVICE

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To surely latch a carriage against an external shock with a simple constitution. SOLUTION: A carriage mechanism 5 for supporting a magnetic head 9 on a tip part is provided so as to be freely swingable around a pivot bearing 6 as the center. A latching member 20 is provided adjacently to the carriage mechanism 5 so as to be freely swung making a shaft 15 as the center. A latching pawl 21 is projected in the tip part of the latching member, and a slit 25 for the entry of the latching pawl 21 in is formed in the carriage mechanism 5. The slit 25 includes a relief part not interfering with the latching pawl 21 when the latching member 20 is located at an initial position, and a holding part bent from the relief part to be extended, and adapted to receive the latching pawl 21 entered by the rotations of the carriage mechanism 5 and the latching member 20 by external forces.
