The rubber mixture, which can be vulcanized, is of at least a natural or synthetic rubber together with additives and one or more filling materials. At least one rubber of the mixture is modified by covalent bonding, using a modifying reagent, expressed as: Ry-R1(R2)n-R3-Rz with n=1 to 5. Ry is a group for adding to a double-bond, especially HS or a precursor and especially a salt-forming precursor of such a group. R1 is a straight or branched alkyl with 1-20 C-atoms. R3 is a simple bond, or a straight or branched alkyl with 1-20 C-atoms. R2 is C=O or CHRx. Rx is H, OH, NH2, COOH, COOR', CONHR', NHR', where R' is an alkyl- or acetyl-, or phenyl residue, where the alkyl is a straight or branched alkyl with 1-6 C-atoms. Rz is H, OH, NH2, COOH, COOR, CONHR, NHR, where R is an alkyl-, acetyl-, or phenyl residue, benzoic acid-, alkyl-, phenyl- or benzyl amide residue, isophthalic acid dialkyl-, diphenyl-, or dibenzyl amide residue, and the alkyl is a straight or branched alkyl with 1-6 C-atoms. With the proviso that Rx and Rz are not H, and the structure has at least three C-atoms.
