PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent the generation of image failures due to slacking of a belt-like photoreceptor. SOLUTION: In an image forming apparatus, a developing device 6 is installed in a position, where the belt part that is hung onto a drive roller 21 and a following roller 22 of the belt-like photoreceptor 5 and the belt-like photoreceptor 5 is rotated by the drive roller 21d in the direction, where a toner image on the belt part that is developed by the developing device 6 is moved to the side of the drive roller 21. Thus, a developing failure is prevented by prevented the slackδfrom being generated on the developing device 6 side, when the belt-like photoreceptor 5 is turned.
