PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an envelope capable of easily applying both functions for sealing a flap piece with an adhesive layer and for opening the flap piece with a seal opening longitudinal member. SOLUTION: There is provided an envelope having a flap piece 3 for use in closing an opening part 4 of an envelope main body 2. As a solving means, this envelope is constructed such that an inner surface 3a of the flap piece 3 is provided with an adhesive layer 8 having a peeling-off paper 7 extending along a longitudinal direction of the flap piece 3. At least the peeling-off paper 7 is formed with a separating line 11 for use in separating the peeling-off paper 7 along the longitudinal direction.
