PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical pickup device that can be made thinner by using general purpose optical parts available in the market. SOLUTION: A rising mirror (MIR') reflects a laser beam emitted from a semiconductor laser (LD') on the reflection surface, converging the beam on the signal recording face of an optical disk (Disc) with an objective lens (OL'), reflecting the return light beam from this signal recording face with the reflection surface, and detecting it with a photodetector (PD). The rising angle (θ') of the reflection surface of the rising mirror (MIR') with respect to the pickup lower face of the optical pickup device is arranged to be smaller than 45 deg.. As a result, the semiconductor laser and the optical parts including the photodetector can be arranged in a state tilted to the optical base so that they are prevented from sticking out downward from the pickup lower face. |
