A support linkage for a rear hatch, boot lid or folding roof has the gas spring or servo strut mounted inside the body shell and driving via a drive shaft (15) set through the body wall. The outer linkage is located inside the gutter (2) profile and is connected to the movable structure. The design eliminates hydraulic feeds through the body and holds the drive/spring in a protected location.
