<p>A process for producing a fluoroalkanol represented by the general formula H(CF2CF2)nCH¿2OH through the telomerization of tetrafluoroethylene and methanol, characterized by conducting the reaction under such conditions that the ratio of the partial pressure of tetrafluoroethylene to that of methanol is less than 1/5 and conducting the reaction at all of the pressures and temperatures within that range in Fig. 1 surrounded by A, B, C, and D to thereby obtain an alcohol mixture consisting mainly of the reaction product represented by the general formula wherein n is 1, while preventing the reaction products wherein n ≤ 2 from being yielded.</p> |
