A bar clamp operates by squeezing a handle (30) to close a jaw (20). The improvements of the present invention include: low actuation force, two spee d action to provide both high speed closing and high force clamping, a removab le bar (60) to allow different length bars to be installed into one body (10), a side mounted bar release button (53) which allows easy access and an increas ed handle stroke, and reinforced wedge elements (90a, 90b).
