Amylolytic protein (I) comprising an amino acid (aa) sequence at least 96, preferably 98% identical to a fully defined sequence (S2) of 516 aa as given in the specification or aa 32-516, derived from a nucleic acid (II) comprising a nucleotide sequence at least 85, preferably 90% identical to a fully defined sequence (S1) of 1551 nucleotides as given in the specification, especially encoding aa 32-516, is new. Independent claims are also included for the following: (a) fragments or deletion mutants of (I) with amylolytic activity; (b) insertion mutants or chimeric proteins, with amylolytic activity, containing an active part of (I) or its fragments; (c) amylolytically active derivatives of (I) or the proteins of (a) and (b); (d) amylolytically active proteins or derivatives having at least one antigenic determinant in common with (I) or the products of (a)-(c); (e) (II) or any nucleic acid (IIa) that encodes (I) or the products of (a)-(c); (f) natural organism that produces (I) or the products of (a)-(d), or contains nucleic acid encoding them; (g) vector containing (II) or (IIa); (h) cell containing the vector of (g); (i) hosts that express, or can be induced to express, (I) or the products of (a)-(d); (j) producing (I) or the products of (a)-(d) using (II), (IIa), the vector of (g), the cells of (h) or cells that produce them naturally; (k) washing and cleaning composition containing (I) or the products of (a)-(d); (l) cleaning textiles or hard surfaces using (I) or the products of (a)-(d); (m) liquefying starch, especially for ethanol production, using (I) or the products of (a)-(d); and (n) temporary adhesion process using (I) or the products of (a)-(d). |
