PURPOSE: A method and apparatus for controlling operation of electric steam boiler is provided to continuously produce steam having a uniform pressure and temperature, while improving heat efficiency and stability. CONSTITUTION: A method comprises a first step of detecting the water level of a heating reservoir(34) by using a water level sensing rod(10), and driving a water supply pump(32) by the detected signal, in such a manner that the water supply pump is delayed for a predetermined time period by a delay timer(12); a second step of operating a submerged electric heater(38) by turning on a magnet switch(S2) by the pressure signal and temperature signal sensed by a pressure switch(20) and a temperature sensor(22), and stopping operation of the water supply pump by a magnet switch(S1) connected to the magnet switch(S2). The water level sensing rod is connected to the submerged electric heater through the delay timer and magnet switch(S2) and connected to the water supply pump through the magnet switch(S1). The pressure switch and temperature sensor are connected to the water supply pump through the magnet switch(S2), respectively. Magnet switches are connected in parallel to each other and receive power from a power supply unit(B) which is controlled by a control unit(A) equipped with a digital display(24) and the delay timer.
