This invention relates to a device for retaining bait on a fishing hook . More specifically, it relates to a device comprised of a body of resilient material constructed so as to be pierced by an end of a fishing hook and pushed down the hook, after the bait has been placed on the hook, to a position proximate to the bait. The device therefore serves to retain the bait on the hook by frictionally engaging the hook in order to prevent accidental disengagement of the bait.
