PURPOSE: A cooling apparatus for pulse tube cryogenic refrigerator is provided to achieve an improved performance of the refrigerator by preventing the operating gas contained in the inertance tube from being over-heated due to the heat generated from the compression unit. CONSTITUTION: A cooling apparatus comprises a compression unit including a linear motor(2), a piston(3) coupled to the mover of the linear motor, and a cylinder(1a) for accommodating the piston for compressing and pumping the operating gas; and a refrigerating unit including a pre-cooler(6) communicated to the cylinder of the compression unit, and which lowers the temperature of the operating gas, a regenerator(7) communicated to the pre-cooler and which stores the sensible heat of the operating gas, a pulse tube(8) communicated to the regenerator and which has a cryotemperature portion(8a) by the phase difference between the mass flow and pressure pulse of the operating gas, an inertance tube(9) communicated to the pulse tube so as to expand the operating gas and allow the operating gas to generate the phase difference between the mass flow and pressure pulse of the operating gas, and a reservoir(10) communicated to the inertance tube and which cooperates with the inertance tube so as to generate the phase difference. A cut-off member(100) is interposed between an outer periphery of a casing(1) and the inertance tube, wherein the cut-off member prevents the heat generated from the compression unit from being transferred to the inertance tube. A cooling fan(200) for cooling the compression unit and the inertance tube, is installed at the casing.
