Transforming plant cells, useful e.g. for preparing transgenic soya, using cells bleached with HPPD inhibitor before transformation, and HPPD resistance for selection

Transforming plant cells (A) by introducing a heterologous gene (I) and a gene (II) for tolerance to inhibitors of HPPD (undefined) as selection marker, is new. Before transformation, competent cells are bleached by adding an inhibitor (III) of HPPD into the growth medium, transformation, selection and growth are essentially conventional. An Independent claim is also included for a method for preparing transgenic plants that contain (I) integrated into the genome by regenerating selected (A) and producing seeds from the fertile regenerated plants.
