PURPOSE: An English composition scoring method is provided to enable a user to compose English sentences on English composition test questions, to transmit the sentences to a server, and to automatically score the answers by comparing the composed sentences with correct sentences stored in a database. CONSTITUTION: The method composes steps of enabling a user to compose an English sentence and input the sentence at a terminal(R1), reading a correct sentence from a correct answer file by using a question number as a key(R2), comparing the input sentence with the correct sentence(B1), outputting a perfect score on the corresponding question if the input sentence is identical to the correct sentence(P1), otherwise separating the sentences into word arrays(L1), reading a word weight file corresponding to the correct sentence(R3), calculating a score for a word by considering a word weight(L2), comparing the input word array with the correct word array(R4, R5, B2), adding a corresponding score if a word of the input word array is included in the words of the correct word array(L3), adding a partial score by checking various forms of a corresponding word in the case that a word of the input word array is included in the words of the correct word array(L4), and storing a corresponding score(S1).
