ARM-DRIVEN SLEEVE VALVE WITH CENTRALIZED DRIVE MECHANISM

<p>An arm-driven sleeve valve (10) utilizes a single pin connection to transmit torque from a shaft (18) of the sleeve valve (10) to a pair of arm portions (20) suspended therefrom for controlling the flow of fluid from the valve (10) by axially moving a gate (14). The single pin connection is centrally positioned between the arm portions (20) and ensures the each of the arm portions (20) exerts an equal force on the gate (14), regardless of torsional deflection of the shaft (18). Use of the invention allows arm-driven sleeve valves (10) to be driven asymmetrically from only one of opposite axial ends of the shaft (18) without tending to bind the gate (14) against the main body (12) of the valve (10).</p>
