PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a cast iron hollow cam shaft for an engine, interposed by cams of both the same phase to have high bending stress, which can reinforce strength in a journal part with care of strength required by optimization in shape of a hollow hole. SOLUTION: This cast iron hollow cam shaft for an engine, having a hollow shaft axially provided with a hollow hole, a journal formed with a fixed space axially in the hollow shaft, a cam arranged at a fixed angle in a circumferential direction with a fixed space axially of the hollow shaft, and a drive receiving part provided in the end of the hollow shaft, to place the cams positioned in both sides of the journal in the same phase, is characterized by deviating the center axis of the hollow hole of the journal or the center axis of the hollow hole of the journal and the hollow shaft relating to the center axis of the cast iron hollow cam shaft for the engine, thinning a thickness of the hollow shaft in a side receiving compression stress, and thickening a thickness of the hollow shaft in a side receiving tensile stress.
