SOLUTION: In the wedged space Q formed by the fixture 4 such as a building ceiling EF located in proximity to the moving handrail 3 of an escalator 1 as the passenger carrier, the safety equipment 5 consisting of a vertical side 5C to be fixed to an end vertical face 4A of the fixture 4, a horizontal side 5D fixed to an end horizontal face 4B and an approximately triangular plate portion 5A is arranged with the two sides, the vertical side 5C and the horizontal side 5D, fixed to the fixture 4.
