Tyre with noise damping properties

For greater sound absorption of a tire body, areas of the tire body include hollow chamber resonators (HCR)(13) which have openings running out onto the tire surface. Independent claims are made for: (a) a process for tire manufacture in which a tread strip with the HCR(13) is applied to a prepared tire carcass during a retreading process; b) a process in which a new tire is produced in two separate stages, the first of which involves building and vulcanizing the carcass and part of the breaker layer and the second of which involves adding the remaining parts of the breaker layer, sidewall strips and tread strip to form a complete tire and vulcanizing. HCR are either in the tread strip with openings leading to the outer face or in the carcass with openings leading to the inner tire face; c) a use of the tire for the driven axles on trucks.
