PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for controlling a safety door by which the overall size of a machine can be reduced and the total cost of a safety device can be saved as well as a device for controlling the safety door. SOLUTION: A safety door control means 18 which enables a mechanical or a hydraulic safety device showing its start/stop action by opening or closing one 2 of the movable doors to be always activated even when the other movable door 3 is opened, is provided on a safety door. A stopper device 10 is structured of a block 4 which is fixed to one 2 of the movable doors and has a thick section part 4a formed on the top and a stopper 8 which rocks by the opening/ closing of the other movable door 3. In addition, a thick section part 8a to be engaged with the lower area of the thick section part 4a of the block 4 is provided at the tip part of the stopper 8. Thus unless the mechanical or the hydraulic safety device is activated by opening one 2 of the movable doors, the other movable door 3 cannot be opened. Further, the door 2 cannot be closed unless the other door 3 is closed.
