PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enhance print quality and to increase print speed at low cost. SOLUTION: When an auxiliary pulse is applied as shown on Fig. 1 (a), it is observed at part A while being superposed with a voltage oscillation waveform generated by a residual pressure wave as shown on Fig. (b). Assuming the period of the oscillation waveform is T and the amplitude is V, movement of meniscus in the vicinity of a nozzle plane is synchronized with the period T of the residual pressure wave and the moving distance from the nozzle face repeats oscillation in proportion to the amplitude V. When a main pulse is applied in synchronism with the period T of the residual pressure wave after the auxiliary pulse is applied, ejection quantity of ink drop can be varied.
