PURPOSE: An over current control apparatus for an inverter air conditioner is provided to decrease the failure rate by controlling the operational frequency of a compressor with detecting degradation of the inverter unit, and to cut down expenses by simplifying the circuit. CONSTITUTION: An over current control device of an inverter air conditioner comprises a converter unit(21) converting alternating current into direct current; an inverter unit(22) driving a compressor(23) by converting direct current from the converter unit into alternating current; the compressor circulating by compressing refrigerant of a cooling cycle forcibly with alternating current from the inverter unit; a heat sink(24) installed near the inverter unit; a temperature sensor(25) detecting temperature of the heat sink; and a microcomputer(26) controlling operation frequency of the compressor corresponding to the signal from the temperature sensor. Failure rate is reduced with controlling the frequency of the compressor with detecting deterioration of the inverter unit from over current.
