PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent blackening of a fluorescent lamp in a short period by carrying a necessary preheating current without increasing the contact resistance of a contact even if the electrode terminal surface of the fluorescent base is oxidized or contaminated, or a foreign matter is adhering to increase the contact resistance of this part. SOLUTION: A socket for attachably and detachably supporting the fluorescent lamp 1 in an immovable state and electrically connecting it to electrode terminals 3 and 4 is formed of members 8 and 8 fixed to a base 5 and kept in contact having a negative force radial to the electrode terminals 3 and 4 and members 7 and 7 kept in contact having a negative force thrust-directional to the electrode terminals 3 and 4.
