PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a sufficient sealing performance in whole circumference of a combustion chamber bore. SOLUTION: In a metal gasket provided with a base plate 1 provided with a bead 3 around a combustion chamber bore 2 and a shim plate 4 thinner than the babe plate 1 and layered on the base plate 1, and put between a cylinder block and a cylinder head contact surfaces and fastened with a fastening bolt to seal the space between the contact surfaces, the shim plate 4 is arranged around the combustion chamber bore 2 to cover the bead 3 of the base plate 1, and an combustion chamber bore 2 side end part of the shim plate 4 is folded back to make the number of sheets of the end part in a thickness direction two sheets, and a support bead 5 is provided on the shim plate 4 in a remote side from the combustion chamber bore 2 of the base plate bead 3.
