Reagents which regulate human DESC1-like serine protease and reagents which bind to human DESC1-like serine protease gene products can play a role in preventing, ameliorating, or correcting dysfunctions or diseases including, but not limited to cancer, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD), cardiovascular, and peripheral or central nervous system disease.
