PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent the deterioration in reliability of an organic EL element with a vacuum deposition device, without needing a pattern formation device or the like and with consistent vacuum processes, without exposing an organic EL element fabrication board to the atmosphere and without causing the increase of manufacturing manhour, and to reduce its manufacturing cost. SOLUTION: This method is used for manufacturing the organic EL element 10 which is provided with plural transparent electrodes 12 formed on a substrate 11 side by side; insulating organic layers 18 formed in space parts S between the adjacent transparent electrodes 12; an organic layer 19 including a luminescent layer 15 formed on the upper side of the transparent electrodes and the insulating organic layers; and plural negative electrodes 17 extending in a direction intersecting with the transparent electrodes 12 on the upper side of the organic layer 19. The method carries out the respective consistent vacuum processes, such as a process for forming the transparent electrodes 12, a process for forming the insulating organic layers 18, a process for forming the organic layer 19 and a process for forming the negative electrodes 17.
