The device has opposing clamping regions formed by displaceable parts with a gas-tight pressure chamber between them of volume determined by their separation connected to a reservoir chamber, via a one-way valve and a choke channel. The parts are loaded by a force tending to increase the pressure chamber volume. The reservoir volume is externally closed and variable by a movable wall region. The choke channel can be closed by a closure device. The device has opposing clamping regions for clamping between two outer thrust blocks and formed by first and second mutually displaceable parts (1,2) with a gas-tight pressure chamber (6) between them of volume determined by their separation and connected to a reservoir chamber (7), via a one-way valve and a high impedance choke channel (13). Both parts are loaded by a force tending to increase the pressure chamber volume. The reservoir volume is externally closed and variable by a movable bounding wall region. The choke channel can be closed by a closure device (9,10) provided in the actuator.
