PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a porous carbon body useful for producing a perfume- impregnating porous carbon body which can maintain a sweet smell for a certain time after being permeated with a desired perfume and into which another perfume can be impregnated after evaporating the impregnated perfume after a prescribed time. SOLUTION: The porous carbon body useful for producing the perfume- impregnating porous carbon body has an open porosity of 20 to 60%, contains pores having pore diameters of 1 to 50 μm and is obtained by adding a decomposable, vaporizable and diffusible material, e.g. a polystyrene or the like to a carbon powder to be sintered, then forming the resulting mixture into a prescribed shape and sintering the formed body. It is possible to rapidly impregnate a perfume into the obtained porous carbon body at normal temperature and pressure and to evaporate the perfume from the porous carbon body after a prescribed time. |
